Welcome to my Blog! I am Mrs. Morris your Childs Computer Teacher. I am very excited about this new year! Computer class will be filled with new opportunities for learning.
The purpose of this blog will be to keep you, my student’s parents up to date on what your child is learning in computer class. I want this blog to be used as a conversation; my posts are to solicit parent teacher dialogue.
I want you to know that there has been such an increase in using technolgy as a tool for learning that I will also be using blogging and other methods this year. The blogging program I chose was Kidblog for all of 4th grade. This blog allows me to monitor and control all activity within the classroom blogging community. Additionally, I have administrative control over all student blogs and accounts, these blogs are private and viewable only by classmates and the teacher. I also used privacy settings which block unsolicited comments from outside sources. For "semi-public" blogs, I am able to set up guest (e.g. parent) accounts that require a password to view students' posts/comments. The purpose is to give each student a voice to express what they have learned or not learned in a lesson and will be given many opportunities for putting their knowledge to work. Please let me know your thoughts and concerns about using this new medium as a learning tool for your child. We will all learn together. Technology is always evolving- What an adventure we are on, exploring new avenues in a safe learning environment.
